Genie has determined that some articulated boom machines were produced with the wrong floor loading information in the operator's manual and on the decals. Incorrect floor loading information may result in the user operating the machine on a surface that is incapable of supporting the maximum wheel load.
Genie Industries issued a Campaign Bulletin 100002 on 7th May 2010 requiring action - see below. This bulletin is directed at the suppliers or owners of these machines to take action to rectify this fault.
Genie has determined that machines worldwide (Models and Serial Numbers Z-80: Z80-101 to Z8009-2448) were produced with the wrong floor loading information in the operator's manual and on the decals.
The Genie bulletin requires replacement of the operating instructions manual and wheel load decals on the above referenced machines. The Genie bulletin makes the statement that failure to comply may result in serious injury or death.
1. Check all Genie machines to establish if you have any on site within the serial number ranges shown above.
2. Isolate such machines from use.
3. Contact the MEWP supplier/owner and obtain written assurance that the actions described in the Genie Campaign Bulletin 100002 dated 7th May 2010 have been carried out before allowing the machine to be used.
4. Monitor serial numbers for any new Genie MEWPS brought to site.
