About Construction Safety Services (NW) Ltd
Construction Safety Services (NW) Ltd is a well established and reputable ‘not
for profit’ company, specialising in the provision of Health and Safety
advice and support to the construction industry throughout the Northwest
of England and North Wales.
The company was originally established as a Safety Group in 1968 and has
grown to it’s present size through a combination of organic growth and
amalgamation with other similar organisations:
- 1968: Group founded as the Liverpool Regional Health
and Safety Group Ltd.
- 1993: Group joined by members of the North Wales Construction
Safety Group and amalgamated with the Manchester based Building
Safety Group Northwest.
- 1994: Name of the Group changed to Construction Safety
Services (NW) Ltd.so as to more accurately reflect the geographical
spread of our operations and membership.
- 1994: Group joined by members of the former Cheshire
Building Safety Group.
- Currently, growth is achieved mainly by reputation and by word of mouth,
attracting new members who are seeking ways to improve their H&S performance
/ procedures or assistance in coping with the plethora of new H&S legislation.
CSS (NW) Ltd. is owned and run by its members currently running at 50 members, employs 3 full time health and safety advisers who are all qualified to CMIOSH level.
The day to day running of the company is handled by an Administrator, who
together with our Senior Adviser report to a Board of Directors, each of whom
is either a Director or senior manager of a member company. Having free use
of members’ experience and expertise in this way minimises our overheads
and ensures that we can provide a sensible, cost effective service that is
focussed on the needs of our members.
Our member companies cover the whole wide spectrum of construction activities with turnovers ranging under a million to £30 million, so that it can be seen that we offer a professional service for all within the industry.
We maintain a proactive approach to all aspects of health, safety
and welfare, with the use of Information Technology (I.T.) playing a major
role in providing a professional service to our members.
We maintain a library of H&S information and videos/DVDs
and we contribute to and keep abreast of the latest developments in the construction
industry and H&S generally through membership of bodies such as the Institution
of Occupational Safety and Health, the Northwest Construction Safety Group,
the Construction Design and Management Support Group and the Royal Society
for the Prevention of Accidents.
